Elevated Urban Style

The brief for this project was to transform a compact, new-build city centre apartment into a refined urban retreat, making the most of its high-floor corner position and panoramic views across London and the River Thames. Floor-to-ceiling windows wrap two sides of the main living space, flooding the interior with natural light and placing the skyline at the centre of the home.

The overall aesthetic combines modern sophistication with a considered use of colour, avoiding a purely monochrome scheme and creating an elegant, vibrant escape above the city. Soft furnishings such as wool rugs, throws, and cushions add warmth and texture, while modern artwork and decorative pieces are kept minimal to maintain openness and uninterrupted sightlines.

The open-plan kitchen and living space is gently zoned to create distinct yet cohesive areas. A shared foundation of grey and black runs throughout, while colour accents define each space - maritime red in the kitchen, and marine blue and yellow ochre in the living area, introducing subtle individuality without disrupting visual harmony.

Maximising natural light, framing the view, and managing privacy were key considerations. Electronic translucent roller blinds allow for adjustable privacy from surrounding buildings while maintaining a bright, open feel throughout the day.
In the evenings, a layered lighting strategy softens the space. Bright ceiling spotlights are balanced with dimmable floor and side lamps, allowing the apartment to transition into a more ambient setting above the city.

The bathrooms were designed as fresh, calming spaces, enhanced with candle accents to create atmosphere in the absence of natural light. In the bedrooms, heavy wool curtains add a sense of comfort and luxury while providing privacy and insulation from both light and city noise.

Space efficiency is carefully considered throughout, with integrated storage solutions such as ottoman beds ensuring the apartment remains uncluttered and functional without compromising comfort or design.
